MEET Amanda
Ask me what my ideal job is, and I would tell you that it is developing and supporting people to live a life that is satisfying, fulfilling, and one where they are happy. In short, I love to help people achieve potential and beyond. I decided to join my love of movement and my passion for people together and become a qualified Personal Trainer. I am passionate about seeing people thrive in every aspect of their everyday lives; physical, social, emotional, mental, and spiritual.
As a child and all throughout my teens I have always been involved in as many sports as possible including soccer, tennis, basketball, softball, touch-rugby, netball and more. As an adult, I continued to be involved in local soccer and touch-rugby, but it was as an adult that I started to consciously exercise for weight loss. I thought the best way to achieve this was to run long distances, every day. Even though running did contribute to some weight loss, over time it put a lot of stress on my body and I developed shin splints. The pain was so intense that I eventually had to stop running altogether, including playing soccer. As a result, I had to find another avenue for fitness and to help take the pressure off my legs, I was introduced to boxing, and I was hooked!
I understand the difficulty of fitting exercise into life, no matter what stage of life you are. I also understand that they type of exercise changes depending on the stage of life you are in. As a mum to three young children, my exercise routine has changed drastically from what it looked like prior to children. However, so have my reasons for exercise.
I love hearing clients comment on how they are feeling more energised, stronger, fitter, more confident, are reducing or eliminating their pain medications, or that their clothes are feeling lose. Working alongside clients and sharing in their excitement in the non-scale wins is always a highlight for my clients and myself.
I bring over a decade’s worth of experience within the educational system, starting as a Teacher Aide to students with hearing impairments, to teaching in the classroom with a focus on Physical Education, Health, and Psychology. Within the first two years of being a graduate teacher I acquired a senior leadership position.
I am a firm believer in purposeful self-reflection that aid’s continual development and supports outcomes to excel; and, therefore, I choose to be a lifelong learner. I believe having this approach in life can help us learn and adapt to the ever-changing situations we face.
